Who This Policy Applies To

Renewal and CE requirements apply only to Veterinary Cannabis Counselors (VCCs). VCGuides and Cannabis Knowledgeable Veterinarians who do not hold the VCC title have no CE or renewal obligation.

A veterinarian who earns and carries the VCC title is held to the same CE and renewal requirements as all other VCCounselors.

Hours: 8 hours of continuing education every 2 years.

Renewal fee: $45 USD, charged upon renewal submission.

Cannabis science and research progress quickly, and this requirement keeps every VCCounselor (VCC) current and credible in their ECS support and cannabis harm reduction education and guidance.

Ways to Earn CE
Any of the following count toward the 8 hours continuing education requirement for VCCounselor renewal:

Any veterinary cannabis–specific lecture already approved for continuing education (e.g., RACE-approved, state-board approved).

Education courses offered by VeterinaryCannabis
- View the Self-Paced Learning page for asynchronous learning
- Subscribe to the BulletinBoard for announcements on upcoming events, classes & workshops
- View the calendar for the schedule of upcoming events, classes & workshops

- A cannabis or endocannabinoid system (ECS) education course or lecture from a reputable educator / education platform with a clinical or medical focus (human-based courses are approved on a case-by-case).
- Join the Forum to learn about events throughout the global community.

Documented cannabis-focused externship / internship hours. View information on mentorship and shadowing opportunities with the Veterinary Cannabis team.

Presentation of a clinical case in a Ground Rounds event (reach out for details)

Presentation of a topic summary / literature review in a Ground Rounds event (reach out for details)

Auditing a live classroom webinar for the VeterinaryCannabis credentialing course — each session is 2 hours and counts as 2 CE hours. (reach out for details and upcoming audit seat openings)
