Certification Course Pre-requisites

Become cannabis-knowledgable.

Veterinary Cannabis Counselor (VCC) Track

credentialed & non-credentialed veterinary technicians

Age: 21+ years of age at the start of class

Language fluency: English (we are able to support with mentorship in multiple language, however, the recorded lectures, written coursework, and main language for classroom discussions is English)

Education & Experience: either of the following

  • ​Credentialed veterinary technician with 2 years of clinical experience

  • Non-credentialed veterinary technician with 5 years of clinical experience​ ​

Clinical Recommendation:

  • Signed letters of recommendation from two veterinarians (download the instruction letter HERE)

Application submission also includes a current resume and headshot.

Graduates receive a Veterinary Cannabis Counselor (VCC) certification which requires renewal every 2 years.

Veterinary Cannabis Guide (VCG) Track

non-medical or non-veterinary professionals

Age: 21+ years of age at the start of class

Language fluency: English (we are able to support with mentorship in multiple language, however, the recorded lectures, written coursework, and main language for classroom discussions is English)

Education & Experience: not sure if your background and experience qualify - reach out by email.

  • ​Associate or higher educational degree with a biology emphasis

  • 5 years of animal-related professional experience ​

Clinical Recommendation:

  • Signed letters of recommendation from two professionals, one of which is a veterinary professional (veterinarian, clinic manager, groomer, trainer, etc.) (download the instruction letter HERE)

Application submission also includes a current resume and headshot.

Graduates receive a Veterinary Cannabis Guide (VCG) certification.  There is no renewal required.

Cannabis-knowledgable Veterinarian Track

veterinarians

Age: 21+ years of age at the start of class

Language fluency: English (we are able to support with mentorship in multiple language, however, the recorded lectures, written coursework, and main language for classroom discussions is English)

Education & Experience: 

  • Licensed or registered to practice as a veterinarian

  • Submit at least a 500 word description of current veterinary practice

Application submission also includes a current resume and headshot.

Graduates receive a completion certificate.
